[ Here we are at the soundstage! Siffrin in his regular default garb per the norm as he explores around through the rows of chairs. Peering at the various musical instruments once they reach the stage.
Right now he's staring at... a violin set? With a contemplating puzzled look, gloved hand at his lips as he mumbles quietly to himself. ]
There must be. They'll get here before the day ends.
[Looks like Akihiko isn't one of them, because he's not taking any of the instruments...instead, he's poking a little at the sound mixing machines, until he accidentally makes a synthesized trombone noise way too loud. Akihiko manages to stop it after five seconds or so]
They better get here quick.
[Before someone causes chaos. Are you our musically-inclined savior, Siffrin?]
[ Though, since everyone seems so eager to explore, it'll probably be much sooner than later. Siffrin continues to idly watch, keeping to themselves like a quiet little triangle of white.
Though they do jump suddenly at the loud noise, oh my Stars. ]
..Least they seem to be working?
[ Nope. Not a single bit. Considering they are keeping their distance still instead of plucking or playing a instrument. ]
[Welp, we're doomed, then! Akihiko has no musical skills either. Deciding the sound mixer could end in blowing their ears off if he presses something wrong again, Akihiko peeks around in the instruments, until he finds an otomatone, and shows the dang thing to Siffrin]
What...is this?
[To him it doesn't look at all like it should be here]
[ Sitting outside the clothing store is Siffrin, trying to wrap some kind of clothing article around their white egg. Hmmm.. it's definitely harder than it looks. ]
[ It's so weird! So strange! But it's fun? Even if they aren't overly music inclined, it's fun to hold and just press randomly along the neck of the instrument.
Heheh.. ]
It sounds like one though. Somebody probably knows how to use it properly.
[Huh, so you would. Akihiko takes from his pocket a couple clams he got out of the sand with Basilio like an hour ago]
Your tip for playing that thing.
[Akihiko isn't above some impromptu joking, bless him. He's completely unaware 'clams' is also slang for money in some places, he just gave whatever he had on him]
[ Holiday market! Siffrin is in the middle of taking a big snackie stash, yum. Even if walking around with wings for changes makes it a bit difficult to move around. ]
[ Not that they seem worried if it looked bad on them. ]
But, the Angels have assured it's a one time thing, and that they'll try to help the people we lost. So I guess.. I'm just trying to look at the bright side of things.
[Akihiko doesn't think the NPCs mean any harm, but...lately he's gotten many doubts they're in any control of the situation. He'd welcome the opinion of someone who believes in those angels]
[Akihiko sure grew dog ears and a tail. They look positively fluffy and big, yup.
The sight of someone with all those snacks, acquired here at this market, makes Akihiko stop]
Are you sure you want that?
[You know that stuff probably will bring some weird effect, right? Akihiko is really cautious because he got betrayed too many times by the boardwalk food, and swore to never let anything like those catch him unaware again]
I'd say quite a few of us do from the conversations I've had with the others. They only ever seem to want to help. And from the interactions I've been having with them... I don't think their concerns are false.
[ But of course that's just their thoughts, their feelings on the matter. Supported by other things discussed with said Angels but they leave it mostly at that. ]
..Are angels supposed to behave more like deities?
[ Like Gods? Them being so human doesn't come off as weird to them but maybe that's because they were never familiar with the concept of angels in the first place. ]
Pretty much. I don't know that much about western theology, but angels are supposed to be these stoic figures that send messages and tell people to not be afraid of them. None of that seems conversational to me.
I guess technically the angels here did say they're more the messenger with their God but they definitely don't seem any bit scary. And are always telling us they'll help.
[That was a really nice scene, I rather enjoyed it.
Akihiko watches with attention, listening to the conversation carefully. He's not sure what Mira's belief entails, but it's pretty obvious it was pushing her into a corner. It's really a good thing Siffrin was there and set her free by gaming the system, so to speak...]
Question, why did she feel like she had no choice here?
Because of her responsibilities as a Housemaiden for the Change belief. Housemaidens are expected to go through Change more so than anyone else. An obligation of sorts.
...I don't mean to denigrate the beliefs, and Change is good, but at the same time it...seems insincere to try to force it to happen.
[Change is good! But at the same time, is it really change if you do it out of obligation, especially if you'd be unhappy with the choice of change you're making?
But Akihiko guesses there wasn't really any choice here. That's unfortunate...]
[ A small shrug, because well it's not the beliefs Siffrin follows as shown there but they get it. ]
Everyone welcomes it, celebrates it, Mirabelle is just... different. But it's not bad to be different. [ Soft, gentle... she's family, and they love her. ] I think the Change God wouldn't be that particular and I think she.. Mirabelle can work with it in a way the best suits her.
...well, no matter what, seems to me you were able to support her in her time of need. I haven't been in your same situation, but someone who can listen to your worries like that makes everything be more manageable.
She probably was even more grateful than she seemed at that moment.
[Even though Mirabelle sure seemed pretty grateful already! But yeah, it's a compliment from Akihiko towards Siffrin, yup]
We've only known each other for a few months now but I've been traveling with her and the rest of our allies during that time. I was helping her with a quest back home.
[ But even if it hasn't been an incredibly long time, she's important to him. A friend. Family. ]
That's what you do at home? Travel with a party doing quests?
[Now that he thinks about it...he really knows nothing about so many people here's former lives in their worlds. He knows far more about the unusual moments than about their daily lives]
Not really. Before them, I just traveled around by myself not really doing much, but her quest is... a pretty important one. One that's meant to save the country, even. It's her quest that brought our group together because we want to help her.
She must be very charismatic to draw you all to her.
[Something being necessary to save the country doesn't guarantee people will come to you! She probably had a certain amount of charisma to get a group to want to come along, he thinks]
WEEK 0, MONDAY
Right now he's staring at... a violin set? With a contemplating puzzled look, gloved hand at his lips as he mumbles quietly to himself. ]
What was the word for it again..?
no subject
The word for what? The violin?
[Akihiko inevitably heard the mumbling, yup]
no subject
..Oh! Yeah, the violin. [ Right, that's the word! ] A lot of instruments here.. you think there's some musical people in our group?
no subject
[Looks like Akihiko isn't one of them, because he's not taking any of the instruments...instead, he's poking a little at the sound mixing machines, until he accidentally makes a synthesized trombone noise way too loud. Akihiko manages to stop it after five seconds or so]

I don't know! Looks fun though?
[ Pokes at it... oh it makes a weird pitchy sound. Weird!! ]
WEEK 0, SATURDAY POST-TRIAL.
no subject
[Instruments are things made of wood or brass and the such and make music, not...pitchy sounds. This object doesn't fit such a definition at all]
no subject
Heheh.. ]
It sounds like one though. Somebody probably knows how to use it properly.
no subject
[Yup, Akihiko, it is a face on the round part. Accept the goofy thing, it's fun]
no subject
[Hey, Siffrin. How's it going?]
no subject
[ Holds it up, squeezing it so it opens its mouth and makes a long note sound. ] It's like it's singing with the face there.
no subject
Unfortunately, all the hats here are kinda too big for an egg, haha..
no subject
Your tip for playing that thing.
[Akihiko isn't above some impromptu joking, bless him. He's completely unaware 'clams' is also slang for money in some places, he just gave whatever he had on him]
no subject
[Since now it's stretched to hell and back from being all over an ostrich egg, Akihiko doesn't plan to wear it.
He sits down too, arms over his knees]
...it has been a long day. How are you feeling?
[Is your egg bundling a distraction for yourself, buddy?]
no subject
Thanks, I'll be here for.. apparently the next seven weeks?
[ Anyway, takes a dramatic and showy bow. ]
no subject
[ But they appreciate the kindness. Focusing on their egg again, just keeping it close while they contemplate a bit more. ]
I'm fine. [ Which is said readily and with a small shrug. ] I think it's hitting other people more.
no subject
[Not that Akihiko thinks there's something wrong about being fine, really]

Some of these things I've had already, they're safe. And any new ones I do end up trying I'll probably do alone.
[ Best way to avoid being cursed in the company of another person is to snack by yourself otherwise end up being embarrassed for life. ]
no subject
[......]
...human. Nothing like you'd expect an angel to be.
[Which is nice, really. It makes them far more approachable]
no subject

[That's as close to criticism as it gets, but it's not like he's wrong, he thinks]
But despite everything, I hope they take care of themselves too. I don't envy their position at all.
no subject
It's one thing if they're only answering to one person, but there is a lot of us. So I can only imagine how much work they're doing.
WEEK 3, MONDAY
