[ believe me when i say siffrin's friends are so normal "what about siffrin" anyway Mirabelle just looks under some stress, but in that she's trying to not worry anyone else with it. Sweet sweet Mirabelle. ]
I was traveling alone when I came across them months ago, she was already traveling with Isabeau and Odile, trying to get the orbs necessary to open the House's gates and defeat the King. I helped them fight a monster off and they asked for my help so I joined them.
They really just wholeass wandered into this party, huh. His brows rise a bit, reflecting his surprise.]
Months ago? It sounds like you've really involved yourself in quite a situation in the span of months... But I'm certain they were grateful for you to join them. It sounds like no easy task to conquer alone.
Traveling with others does sound much more pleasant.
[And if that happy look is anything to go by, he guesses they agree. But! He also just kind of assumes the sad look has something to do with DYING, so he'll leave it for the time being. Instead:]
Will you tell me a little more about them? These friends of yours.
[ The dying life is truly rough fr on god no cap. ]
..There's five of us in the group. I told you about Mirabelle. [ With a gesture to follow, they go to the next building over to the left which has a sign that reads in Vaugardian THE FANTASY FRENCH "Shop." As they go in, it is in fact a shop. Towards the back, there is what looks to be a Japanese lady, oldge (she looks in her forties.) ]
That's Odile, the oldest of the group. [ Which I think is funny that after her Siffrin is the second oldest. The Mid/Late twenties fella. Odile looks over, her voice sounding softly as if just realizing that they're there, "Oh, Siffrin. You look rested. Glad to see you this laidback on the day before the end of the world." But it just an NPC line since Odile seems to go back to how she was before, browsing the shelves.
(...) ] She came from Ka Bue, doing a lot of traveling like me. She's very perceptive, curious, and though she looks like and pretends she doesn't care... she cares quite a lot.
[ ...Their chest hurts. They miss their friends, their family. ]
But he'll step and look around, taking in the details in a quietly interested sort of way. New places... New people... Still wild as hell that nothing has colors but it's fine.]
Ah, I see. [Even though Odile is not actually here, he'll just give her a polite little nod anyway.] She does sound like quite the person to know... Blunt with her words as well, perhaps?
[ It really is just greyscale, no colors. Just good ole shades of black, white and gray. There's various things you expect from a shop. Some food ingredients, books, some flyers on the walls, and there is a Change god statue on the table that is doing a nice little dance. ]
..Yeah, she is. Speaks her mind, she doesn't really sugarcoat things.
[ It's said with equal amusement, though it's quiet. Their shoulders tense just a little as they keep staring at the scene before them before turning to him. ]
Did you wanna explore the room a little? If not, I can introduce you to the next one.
[ANOTHER LITTLE GUY. He'll move forward to get a closer look at the statue, but glances back to Sif after a second. He can probably pick up on that slight tension, so he just says:]
[ Another little guy, just round and doing a sway side to side dance. ]
Alright.
[ Their smile as they watch Odile drops as they turn around, but the clouds already start to change the scenery. Back outside, though it looks to be the East side of the village when you look around. Which is comprised of several riverside houses, but they're more south next to a vegetable field.
As they approach the area, there's a small preteen that can be seen sighing and looking over the fence. Weirdly, Siffrin seems to slip into movement and words as if they're reliving the experience again. ]
Bonnie.
[ The kid looks up, still sulking but gives a deadpan squinty look at Siffrin, voice mumbling as they answer, "...hey frin." They pause, squinting a bit more, before huffing, "...What d'you want?" Not a moment after a sound happens, very faint, a small little rewind effect before Bonnie is back to looking over the fence and Siffrin is just.. standing there. They offer a smile Lucas's way after. ]
They're a kid, so their anger shouldn't be taken too much to heart. [ Siffrin does anyway. ] But they love cooking and food, and love making snacks and preparing meals for everyone. They're really good at it, too. Their face about lights up when you ask for a snack.
[There's something about the rewinding NPC-like nature of this place that truly sits ill at ease with him, but he focuses instead on everything that isn't that. Their interaction, however brief, and how cute it is. The garden itself. This new person, whom he has never and likely would never meet.]
Ah, Bonnie! I see. They do look very young... [A LATTLE BABY.] And even then, to be such a talented cook is a wonderful thing, indeed. I'm glad that they're able to enjoy keeping everyone fed. Dear Yves could have learned a thing or two from them, maybe.
[ No no, it's totally normal. If Siffrin notices at all, they don't seem like it, just continuing on with their introductions because everything is okay! ]
Mhm, the four of us were traveling when we came across them escaping from the King's curse. They've been with us since. [ A very good chef-in-the-making! Though curious... ] Yves cooks?
I can't really speak for them, but... it's been.. nice. Traveling with them.
[ It's been the happiest they've ever been, but they can't say that. Not again. Can't say how much traveling with them all has meant. But it's fine.. they blink over at that. ]
[There's just a faint little laugh at that but you can bet your ass he'll dodge to physically intercept anyone who looks like they're going to eat some of Yves' food in public...]
I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with what an onigiri is... Not suited to apples, I take it?
[ So true queen, you know some people would be nice to try Yves' food.... Siffrin is def some people. ]
Onigiri is a Ka Buan recipe, it's a rice ball that you usually form into a triangular shape and wrapped in nori? Normally they have sour or salty fillings. Like pickled plums.
Bonnie just assumed by plums, maybe any kind of fruit might work and used apple slices instead.
[HE WILL SAVE THEM FROM BEING OFFSCHEDULE MURDERED.]
Ah! I see... Goodness, that must have been a strange taste, then, if it's not meant to have sweet fillings. Apples and plums aren't very much alike even without pickling them...
[ It'll be worth if it makes Yves happy for the 0.2 seconds that they're still alive. ]
They aren't, and honestly it didn't taste really good but they look really happy when you eat what they make. [ And Siffrin never wants to upset them. ] There's still one more of my companions to meet, if you want to?
[ BINGO YIPPEE. A nod, and the scenery will change, being on the opposite side of the village now where there's a big tree in the distance. The biggest tree to tree around here. It is so big.
On the pathway to it though, there seems to be a rather large and tall man. this man is like 6'5" or smth TALL. Siffrin is so smol in comparison i tear up.
Anyway, as Siffrin approaches - ] Isa.
[ The man perks, raising a brow with a friendly smile, "Sif. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? I get it. Anyway, I was just looking at the Favor Tree! Isn't this tree cool???" And Siffrin seems to shift, as if remembering something. ] Yeah, it is...
[ Freezes suddenly. There's another sound, a little of that rewind thing as the man goes back with his arms crossed and looking very pondering with his face crunched in thought and eyes closed. Siffrin turns to Lucas like nothing happened, registering where they are. ] That's Isabeau, he was the first to join Mirabelle in her travels to try and stop the King's curse. He used to be a Defender back in Jouvente, helping people, he's kinda the rock in the party. Always supporting and being there for everyone.
[ me voice and he also has a massive crush on Siffrin but thats not important enough to share. :( ]

He doesn't say anything about it just yet, at least...]
Ah, what a fortuitous meeting, then. I do hope you've all been able to enjoy one another's company? [Not counting the potential DEATH they faced.

Also don't worry about it. Except he just says, with a kind of vacant smile:]
I did eat a dish prepared by dear Yves once and almost met my God that much sooner because of it.
